In most cases you should also set up individual user accounts before working extensively with the DB as well. Quoting the doc about --skip-grant-tables : This enables anyone to connect without a password and with all privileges [...] Because this is insecure, [...] use to get your exact My SQL version, then go for sudo dpkg-reconfigure mysql-server-5.x (replace 5.x with your server version, btw). Note: For My SQL 5.7 please see answer from @Lahiru to this question. Actually for mysql community server 5.7, the default root password is randomly generated when you install. I commented @Divz's answer with this precision, but it's masked by the several "thanks" comments. The best solution I came across was to completely uninstall mysql and re-install it.
I had never used the Virtual Network Editor before, so my settings were never changed from the defaults.
Still, restoring the defaults restored the network functionality.
After couple of minutes I got 'Set network connection' pop-up without clicking on anything, I selected Home network, it asked me what I would want to share - I checked/selected everything, It than came back with a password for the homegroup which I saved, in case i need it. BTW, I already had VMWARE bridge protocol on my Host's network adapter and my guest os had it on automatic - So I did not tweak anything there, but it did not fix my internet issue.
This leads to a plethora of errors (different numbers) and it looks like Error 9 (while not documented on Apple’s support page) could also be one of them. If you’ve set up firewall or connecting through proxy/vpn, you should make sure that this is not preventing i Tunes from connecting to Apple servers remotely.
When you try to upgrade your i Phone/i Pad, i Tunes connects to Apple, checks for hashes, security keys etc.
Would you like to answer one of these unanswered questions instead?
Unlike i Tunes error 3194 or error 4014, i Tunes Error 9 is not a very common error code.
